Yes. No doubt the response to my last post would be the "you don't get to dictate how the oppressed react" argument.
First, you're not oppressed. (General you). You live in a rich western country where you can vote your government in and out, both local and national. You will not be killed for expressing the wrong opinion, you will not be imprisoned for political dissidence. You have freedom of speech, you can say whatever you like on the internet, you can publish books, you can stand at Hyde Park Corner or wherever and shout what you like through a megaphone. You have the right to protest.
Having to face prejudice does not equal oppression-in a free country, you have the right to fight back. The truly oppressed have no means of defence or attack. Talk to someone in North Korea about how 'oppressed' you are because someone said something stupid about you on a message board. They would not be impressed. Really. Facing prejudice sucks, it's extremely unpleasant and by all means it's right to oppose it. But it's not "oppression".
Oh but I don't get to make this argument because I'm "privileged".Then what's the point of talking in the first place? Yes, everybody has different life experiences. But that doesn't cancel out someone's honest opinion. I've had people my whole life basically telling me to 'get over' the bullying I had as a child which has left me with the mental health problems I have now. They weren't there, they didn't experience what I did. They don't know what the hell they are saying. I suppose that's the "privilege" concept. You see, those people telling me to 'get over it' are talking out of their arse. But I wouldn't dream of saying they don't have the right to say that. They do. It's just a fucking stupid opinion is all.
Everybody has an opinion about how x should have reacted to y. You can bleat about 'oppression' and 'privilege' all you like. But the fact is, that's just the way it is and you will never change that. In Ivory Tower Academia you can do this, and control people in this way (at least what they say publically, in private, with trusted people, you will find things are a bit less self censored. And the PC Fascists will be regarded with contempt, to say the least.) In the real world, however you soon get a reputation as a holier than thou humourless idiot.
I was on fire with idealism when I was a kid. All it got me was lonelier and even more of an outcast. I tried to call out prejudice. No prejudice was fought. No one changed their mind. It just got me even more ridiculed and contempt. And I already had enough to sink the bloody Titanic. Talk about futile.
PC Fascism is just a great big squealing self centred toddler having a tantrum.
People have a right to their thoughts and opinions. Even if you don't like them.
